Grant Application Section Detail Screen > Basic Information

The Grant Application Section Detail screen contains all the information and options you need to complete the questions in the current section.

Details about the grant application appear in the blue information bar for reference on every screen.

Special instructions and the text of each question are presented in order on the screen.  If the questions do not fit on a single screen, use the scroll bar on the right side or press the PAGE keys to move between the questions.

To simplify entry and accommodate different types of data, several different types of answer fields are available.

Grant Application Section Detail Screen > Answer Field Types

Any combination of answer fields may be used in a single Grant Application Section Detail screen.  To select a field, simply click it.  You also can press TAB or SHIFT+TAB to move forward and backward among the fields.

The field formats and the type of entries they accept vary.

Text Questions     Enter Data in Text Fields > Step-by-Step
Text questions contain fields for entry of any alphabetical or numeric information, either in a single-line or an unlimited text box.  Spell-checking, copying and pasting and other features are available.

Checkboxes, Dropdowns and Lists   Enter Data in Checkboxes, Dropdowns and Lists > Step-by-Step
Special question formats are used if a question has a limited number of possible answers.  A dropdown list or a radio button list enables the selection of only one answer.  A list of checkboxes allows you to select more than one entry from a list.

Pre-Formatted Questions (numeric, currency, etc.)   Enter Data in Pre-formatted Fields > Step-by-Step
Some text fields enable the entry of only certain types of data (letters or numerals) or formats (zip codes).

Spreadsheet Questions   Enter Data in Spreadsheet Questions > Step-by-Step
Spreadsheet questions are formatted as grids containing columns of information and a set number of rows.  Simply click or TAB into a field and enter the correct information for each column in each row.

Budget Detail Tables   Enter Data in Budget Table Questions > Step-by-Step
Budget tables are tables that enable the addition of one or more rows of information.  Complete the fields shown for each column and click Add to add your entry as a new row in the table.

Customized Data Entry Fields
Certain types of applications contain customized data entry fields or special types of data entry grids.  For full information, see Managing Consortium Grant Applications, Managing Consolidated Grant Applications, and Managing Special Grant Applications.

ENTRY RESTRICTIONS:  Note that some fields, such as “Allocation,” are filled with existing system data or calculations.  Restricted fields are displayed for reference only and cannot be edited.

Grant Application Section Detail Screen > Action Buttons

The bottom of every Grant Application Section Detail screen contains action buttons.  When completing the questions,  click the appropriate button to perform the action:

Save and Continue
Click Save and Continue at any time to save your data entry and remain on the current screen.

Save
Click Save at any time to save your data entry and return to the main Grant Application Detail screen.

Back to Grant Application Detail
Click Back to Grant Application Detail to exit the current screen without saving your entries.

Check Rules   Check Business Rules > Step-by-Step
To verify that you have entered all the required questions on the current Grant Application Section Detail correctly, click Check Rules.  The system verifies your answers for completeness, correctness and formatting.  If any answers are incomplete or incorrect, a red bar at the top of the screen with a detailed message on the questions that need correction.  If all the answers are complete and correctly formatted, a green bar will confirm that the business rules have been satisfied.

Mark Section Complete   Mark Section Complete > Step-by-Step
After answering all questions on the Grant Application Section Detail screen, click Mark Section Complete to indicate that the section is complete.  The button also saves all your data, checks the business rules and returns to the Grant Application Detail screen.  Sections marked complete appear with checkmarks on the main Grant Application Detail screen.

Make Section In Process   Make Section In Process > Step-by-Step
If a section is marked complete and additional editing is required, click Make Section In Process.  Edit the answers as needed.  Remember to save your answers and mark the section complete after editing.
